As I check out various church websites, I notice that fewer and fewer seem to have any type of Chemical Recovery Ministry yet the statistics show very clearly that drug an alcohol abuse are on the rise. Why is it that there appears to be no plan for a ministry to help and educate those struggling with substance addiction within our Churches. What is lacking? As our children grow up and attend school they are being confronted with drug use every day.
Our kids are being tempted to smoke, use alcohol, marijuana, meth and ecstacy in school alone to say nothing of any parties they may be attending. As a recovering addict myself, I have made a point of talking to my sons about my mistakes on a regular basis and making sure that I am being a listening, approachable father that they can talk to about anything.
I am concerned that if we are not making this a priority of any kind in our churches that we are going to see many of our youth lured away by the lies that drugs and alcohol provides. I would love to hear some responses on this. Tell me if you have a CR ministry in your Church and how or what is it doing to address these concerns? Is there a CR deacon in your congregation? What is the plan to keep your kids away from drugs and alcohol abuse?
