Hey Everyone,

I am in need of practicals on a subject that seems to be the toughest to encourage my ministry to see their need for.

Prayer & Bible Study

I look at Matt 7:21-28 and Jesus says almost hauntingly that we need to be known by him. I look at the Garden and i see how Jesus clung to God's word in prayer and it is inspiring...how do we encourage our people to understand that we need Jesus like this?

You might share these two Scriptures. Mt 26:44 Jesus had to pray 3 times about the same thing. Rom 15:30 Paul as great as he was NEEDED the prayers of others.

1. So how can we justify ourselves not pouring our hearts to God if Jesus had to? Are we greater than Jesus?

2. Taking it down a notch, if we are not as great as Paul was - and he NEEDED the prayers of others - then how much more do we need the prayers of others? Are we stronger spiritually than Paul was - that we don't need the prayers of others but he did?

3. When others need us to pray for them and we don't - then in a way we are being selfish and unloving.

4. In a marriage (two way) communication is very important. In our relationship w/ God, communication is two-way. Reading the bible is like God speaking to us. Praying is like us speaking to God. In a marriage, going a few days w/out talking w/ your spouse, is not good. Those of us who are married know what I'm talking about. Our Prayer Life is Very Important.

5. You might also encourage them to join one of our "Prayer Groups" here at DTSpace.net - There is also a Bible Study & Quiet Times Group.

6. Have you been receiving DTSpace.net Prayer Requests e-mails? If not e-mail me at bdpemberton@hotmail.com and I'll send you the latest one. Then you can as a group pray together having some time to also pray for the needs of our bros/sis around the world!

These are just my thoughts on the 'prayer' side of your question.

In Unity w/ Love, Byron

1. Have them didicate some time each day meditating on that principal.

2. Set an example in your own life that they can see and imitate.

Hebrews 13:7 (HCSB)
7 Remember your leaders who have spoken God’s word to you. As you carefully observe the outcome of their lives, imitate their faith.

Grace and Peace,

Glen
