I find the most pivotal moments with God while in the word are when I have an hour of complete free time, so my mind will not wonder. I usually am at a nice place where no one can distract me- my room, starbucks, or the library. I tend to read a complete book or letter over a period of time, because this helps to train yourself to focus on the message or the thesis the author is trying to convey. If I feel uneasy or not God focused (sinful), which happens. I will try again at a later time, this is monumental I feel, so you will stay on target, and not be tempted to skip around. It is funny, because skipping around only breeds’ chaos (in my opinion) in the way your mind processes information. If I am between books or letters, I will be inclined to read a book that I can easily get into like Daniel, Psalms, or Proverbs.

P. S. I love the pauline letters. . . Cool

Have a great time in the Word! ! !

Was actually drawn to the subject "Peace when reading". As a mom to 2 young children, that peace is very important so that I connect with God for me and for them.

As for how I QT ...  I tend to be a bit more chaotic in my approach (LOL). I focus on an area I want to grow in and then study through different books for what applies ... there are times that this will stay in 1 book mainly or move around ... I also like to springboard off a Sunday message or Midweek topic.

No matter what - I pray and focus on gratitude ...

My best time is when i am really focusing on the Word. It does not have to be a hour or even a half hour. For me its quality vs. quantity. Currently I am studying the Holy Spirit with another sister. Man! Its great and deep. I love looking at the hebrew/greek comparing with our modern day English. I have grown closer to God, studying about God. In that I mean God/Jesus/Holy Spirit.

My deepest most meaningful quiet times are when I have no clue where to begin.  I'm a fly by the pages of the text kinda girl. How's that for chaotic (LOL)Tongue out

Let me give you some insight into my morning routine......

Wake up to the gentle nudge of my husband trying to roll me out of bed~give thanks through prayer to God for allowing me to land softly on a carpeted floor and to enjoy another day; wander into the kitchen to start the coffee; greet my early riser with a hug and kiss (one daughter was born with an internal alarm that goes off at 6 am every morning

EVEN on Saturdays Undecided); turn into human alarm clock mode for my other two children; head over to the computer, find our family devo, point, click and print (God always provides my inbox with what our family needs everytime); round up the troops with their bibles and get seated at the dining table; now that spirit and bodies are fed, send off DH on his day, load up the mom taxi, drop off passengers at school, return home to have my one on one daddy time with God, get ready for work, and somewhere in the middle of that breatheWink

Honestly some of my most meaningful thoughts and true quiet times are in that 25-40 minute commute to work contemplating over what we read that morning and praying for the protection and well-being of my family for the day.

My current focus is on speaking worthy words.  Jeremiah 15:19 reads"If you return to me, I will restore you so you can continue to serve me.  If you speak words that are worthy, you will be my spokesman.  You are to influence them; do not let them influence you!" NLT

This daughter of Christ for 8 years; wife of 18 & 3/4 years; mom of 3 ( 1 senior & 2 young teen midschoolers) is trying with her whole heart to let God do the driving on this crazy course called life and sit back and relax.  Sometimes I circle the round about waaaayyy to many times and go off in a different direction, but eventually there is always a four-way stop; Straight ahead God, to the right life, and to the left satan.....I pray I will always move straight ahead and enjoy the rideCool

My peaceful time with our Father is 4:30am, when I rise and the world is at a stand still.  I mediate on the Psalms and he lifts me up with his spirit.  I read and mediate.  It seems as if God is right there. I may start out singing or listening  to a gospel CD.  Once I am in his prescence I start to communicate thru prayer.  It is so beautiful.  This also helps me to be able to reflect throughout the day.
