Im a brother who has been in God's Kingdom for 20 years. 13 of those are married years. Praise God.....Blessings all around. But enough about that. My real concern is FaceBook. Although it has created a buzz worldwide, it poses as an issue with how accessible it is. Too many people have access to family, friends, children, etc. I like the exclusiveness of Dtspace.net. It allows one Brother to talk to another brother or sister to talk to another sister without having to open up your site and find something questionable that someone else decides to add to your account. Here, there seems to be a certain level of purity and security.

you are right bro. i do have a facebook account though. we will only hope and pray that disciples all over the world would opt to have an account in dtspace and will really make use of the site to build relationships and to share more of what is life with God. lets share the word. some disciples might not even know dtspace exist:)
I have long waited for such a resource as DTspatce!
Brothers and sisters from around the world can socialize, support one another, to inspire. This is super! Chat - just amazing! It was good that we are protected against all kinds of spam, pornography, platitude. The site - holy
, in the sense separated from the world. I like it here! In other social networks can communicate to bring people to God.
I am encouraged by their friends to join this site. There are some difficulties for disciples from Russia and Ukraine - many do not know English.
Well, I am an avid user of facebook; especially within the context of connecting (or re-connecting as it were) with those whom I met at church but may not have kept up with for one reason or another. Some of those who have left the ICoC and now worship elsewhere (or not at all) would never dream of visiting DTSpace. In addition, I have been able to connect with friends and acquaintences from as far back as elementary school and those interactions make me a more well-rounded human being, IMO.
I don't believe there is anything to fear with facebook (or myspace, linkdin, etc., etc.) as long as you know your limits. Shunning it because it is not specific to disciples serves, I believe, to cut us off from the possibilites of having impact with those who perhaps have differring views.
LONG LIVE FACEBOOK
I wasn't into sites like this at all. But, unlike others facebook is private, you get to invite people in. I think its more personal. You can delete items you don't want in your page.
I am in agreement w/ Bob that Facebook has value and doesn't necessarily need to be 'retired' (or at least not by everyone - everyone's situation is different).
I recently joined Facebook to re-connect w/ old friends from my past that I wouldn't otherwise be able to if I used DTSpace exclusively.
(if you search for me on facebook you can search by (Byron Douglas Pemberton TX)
In one day I reconnected w/ 3 old high shool friends and some disciples I haven't connected w/ up here yet.
DTSpace is still #1 in my book but is its infancy stage but has incredible potential.
In short, Facebook has merit but DTSpace ROCKS!!!
In unity w/ love, Byron
I joined DTSpace in August and it was full of people at first, but then everybody disappeared. In fact, most of the DTSpace posts in the Groups are way old. Finding other people in DTSpace chat rooms is rare. I prefer Facebook now. I do not ignore DTSpace obviously, but I spend most of my time of Facebook. Not only has Facebook found members of my last church, but it has connescted me with ex members of the ICOC, and resulted them coming to church. I have chatted (live) with much more people on Facebook too. I do not want DTSpace to go away mind you, but I do want to urge others to use it more often
Hello,
I have more of a concern about My space then facebook... You invite the people in and in my facebook, I have been contacted back grade school friends and high school friends. Only friends and family are on my friends list. Plus it allows me to im my family don't live close... And frankly, brothers rarely contact sisters in our church.....It is very rare that brothers even respond to an email.... Just my opinon....
thanks,
christina
I also have an account on facebook and are connected to many christians and old friends also new people I met on there. I know there's alot of crud on there but you just have to be careful what you put on there. I have only just discovered DT space.net which seems are great christian social networking site.
I use facebook daily, and would like to use DTSpace more often. However, where is everyone?
Like others I have connected to all kinds of past friends on facebook. I have organized events on facebook. I do say that I am careful what i say on fb, as it is not private. There is even a web site that has taken all the info from facebook and added to there site. spokeo.com I believe is one such example. So, I do like facebook. It has it's place. Hopefully DTSpace can catch up, however, I don't know if I have the time to add another web site to update.
I agree with Jason. I do believe facebook has it's place and I would love to be on DTSpace.net more often but I wish there were other people on here at the same time. I know I am guilty of not posting much on here too but it gets kinda boring when you check back and there have been no new posts for days at a time. Come on people! Wake up! We have the greatest topic in the world to discuss. So let's get with it!
I have an account on FB... I use it everyday...But to be in touch with whom I am, a christian, I usually put verses from the Bible so even if I have friends on my list that are not christians, I can let them know who am I and what are my priorities...But I would love to post things on DTSpace but disciples do not use the site often, I guess once in a year so the only way to get in touch with them often is FB (not e-mails) or skype as I don't know why but people are lazy in writing :P...
Just my opinion, but I think we should be friendlier to those who haven't been writing in order to keep the Unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
YBIC,
Ed M.
You do know that facebook has privacy settings right? where you can pretty much set it up so that NO ONE can find you, I'm set up in such a way that no one can find me and the only way you can be added is if you know someone I know or I request you.
so, I don't see what the issue is...
