My teenager and I are reading John together. We got to the part where Jesus heals the man who was born blind....why did Jesus go through all the trouble when he spit on the ground, made some mud ,put the mud on the mans eyes and then told the man to wash it off. Why all the work? Jesus didn't need to do a thing and he could of healed the man.

It's just a suggestion. Do your remember the extract from John 11:42, the story about Lazarus' death and resurrection when Jesus says: "And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people who stand about have I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me."

Maybe He did this for the people watching?

Hi Trish!

Jesus touch the blind with mud so that the blind can experience Him, interact or communicate and had relationship with Him. Just like people who blind spiritually. He wants us to speak, to feel, to interact or to communicate and had relationship with Him.

I'm not sure who the teacher is whom might give you some kind of answer?

But until then, consider 2kings 5:1-14.  Perhaps he put mud on his eyes, so that he could go wash it off.

Thanks Glen. Can be a consideration about "go and wash it off". By the way, i have a song about "blind man". See my profile - profile music - click The Wonder. Do you like or can play guitar? If so hopefully you enjoy the guitar. We also produce that song in our ministry BEREAN PUBLICATION HOUSE Jakarta Church of Christ. God bless.Laughing
