so this group is supposed to be a sorta mind meld of musicians in the church. What kinda music do you guys play and what musicians have been influential in your playing or singing. For me i play lots of rock and blues. I'm getting into metal just because i need to work on my alternate picking and speed picking and i hear it's great for that (btw i play the guitar). My main influences are probably SRV, Kirk Hammett, and Dimebag Darrell(sorry i don't know his real first name)

Ian, I am very flexible with my music. I currently am involved in the following projects:

1. the solo artist, Susan M.  My genere is Carribean styles. I perform music of many different Carribean styles, including reggae, calypso, salsa, rumba, conga, bomba and plena, and others. Some of this music is Christian-themed, but most of it is good-ol' clean, pure and fun music about all different kinds of subject matters.

2. the 3-person band, Creation. I have teamed up with two brothers from the Baltimore church (Douglas Harvey and Nathan Robinson) to form this band. We combine Carribean music, R&B, and Electronica together to come up with our interesting blend. This music is exclusively Christian-themed.

Also, I am a very talented songwriter. If someone asks me to write them a melody line, all I usually need is the genere, the groove (beat), and the chord progression. Then I go on to write a melody line that meets or exceeds the persons' expectations.

Greetings! I have been playing guitar for more years than I'd care to admit. I got my first electric guitar at 5, and have been playing since. I also studied opera for several years with Maestro David P. Kyle, in Seattle.

My influences on guitar: Hendrix, Clapton, Beck, Page, Michael Schenker, Eddie Van Halen, Uli Roth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Al Di Meola, Frank Gambale, Allan Holdsworth, SRV, Robin Trower, John Pettrucci, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert etc...

My Vocal influences: Maestro David P. Kyle, Geoff Tate, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickenson, Ronnie James Dio, Ray Gillen, Ian gillan, Midnight, Steve Benito, Ronny Munroe etc...

I sing/ play guitar for my band MY DISGRACE. We play prog. metal. I also am very active with our Church band here in Nashville, and play many different styles with them.

I look forward to getting to know you all better!

In HIM,

Rob

I know it's a bit late, but I found this group and it made me pretty happy so I'm gonna go ahead and reply now anyway.

Seriously cool to see the variation here. I myself play drums, guitar, piano, anything else I can get my hands on really. I most enjoy composing and songwriting in itself.

Influences-wise, into a lot of electronica and glitch/IDM stuff (Aphex Twin, Venetian Snares, Squarepusher, Autechre, Bonobo, M83, Four Tet), a lot of artrock/postrock (Radiohead, Broken Social Scene, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Battles), ambient (Stars of the Lid, Brian Eno, etc) and Noise Rock/Shoegaze (My Bloody Valentine, Jesus & Mary Chain, Slowdive, Sonic Youth, etc), a lot of classical (especially 20th century avant-garde and late 19th century), good old contemporary indie, jazz, I could go on for ages. I literally love it all... well most of it anyway, the stuff thats good...

Great to meet you all,

Alex. :)
